If a corporation with an existing Regular member has multiple business units or subsidiaries or the Regular member has a subordinate that effectively holds the role of General Patent Counsel (or equivalent) or Head (or equivalent) of a Patent Department of the Regular member’s corporation, the Regular member may nominate an employee for Auxiliary membership as follows:
(a) if that employee holds this role of General Patent Counsel (or equivalent) or Head (or equivalent) of a Patent Department for a business unit of the Regular member’s corporation;
(b) if that employee would be an otherwise eligible to be a Regular member but for the corporation employer being a subsidiary of another corporation which has an existing Regular member; or
(c) if that employee is a subordinate of the Regular member and effectively holds the role of General Patent Counsel (or equivalent) or Head (or equivalent) of a Patent Department for all or a substantial portion of the Regular member’s corporation; in each case provided that the employee is professionally qualified in the patent profession.
Auxiliary members are not eligible to vote on Association matters.
